Services for ALC Faculty

Circulation

With a collection of 70,000 items, the McGaw Library encourages the faculty of Alice Lloyd College to make use of its materials.

We ask that faculty members take note of the following circulation guidelines:

- For faculty members, print materials are loaned for one year terms.
- Users have an option to renew materials up to three times, but additional renewals may be granted at the discretion of library staff.
- A user may check out a maximum of 25 materials at a time. Additional quantities may be granted at the discretion of library staff.

For your convenience, we suggest renewing books online.

Faculty members also have permission to check out books from our Appalachian Collection. A library staff member must be present to provide access to this special collection and to override our Library Management System's rules in order for these materials to circulate.

In addition to circulating print materials, we also offer the following services:

  • New title list: On a weekly basis, the Public Services Librarian will email a list of new acquisitions to faculty members.
  • Interlibrary loan: We can request titles not owned by our library through an extended lending network. Most items arrive within 1-2 weeks. Simply use the online interlibrary loan request form, or visit the library to fill out a paper form.
  • Holds and Recalls:
    • Holds: We are able to hold materials for pickup at a later date. Use our online form, or call the Public Services Librarian at 606-368-6117 to request this service.
    • Recalls: Need an item that is checked out to another patron? Fill out our online recall form, or call the Public Services Librarian at 606-368-6117 to request this service.
